No wonder I find myself removing clicks and pops from so many PT made mixes these days!Pro Tools does not have an automatic "snap to zero crossing". My DAW app (SAWStudio) uses the "z" key as a quick and always available command to do this - I probably hit this dozens of time in any session. Wow, that's just unbelievable that the "industry standard" wouldn't have such a basic and to me indispensible feature. Took just a few seconds to do this using my DAW apps built in snap to zero crossing commands. Ps - just bounced some sine wave test tones at 1kHz & 1.1kHz and seamlessly buttspliced them with no cross fade and no click on playback at the splice. So since my DAW app has a feature not available in some other apps which actually allows me to do many splices more accurately and quicker it's "not professional"? Gimme a break. And this statement is based on doing edits in both manners in the real world - not on me basing an opinion on misunderstanding what I've read. My DAW app can easily do cross fades between regions for seamless no click splices - and it easily do butt splices at zero crossing points with no cross fades between the regions for seamless no click splices. Maybe that´s why real pro DAWs don´t offer it?utter bull crap. Or you can read white papers how to do editing in the the digital domain the right way.Īlso looking at signal theory confirms: looking for zero crossings is nonsense. You can also take a look in Jon Watkinsons "The Art of Digital Audio" known as the bible for digital audio. There are a lot of real pro DAWs not offering the search of zero crossing because technically and methematically it is just nonsense to do edits with zero crossings. Even if you do the the most stupid edtis like putting 2 regions together which having nothing common you will not hear any klicks. I do a lot of edits in Sonic Studio Soundblade.
